AFM (Activated Filter Media) Grade is a high-performance filter media designed for use in sand filters. This Grade 2 version comes in bulk 21 kg packs. Made from specially selected recycled glass, AFM undergoes a three-step activation that imparts a permanently negatively charged, self-sterilising surface.

When installed, AFM delivers water filtration down to ~1 micron, significantly better clarity, dramatically reduced backwash requirements, and superior resistance to biofouling, channeling and bacterial growth. It works as a direct swap for sand in compatible filter systems—no need to alter plumbing or filter internals. Over its lifespan (often 10+ years), it can reduce running costs via lower water and chemical usage, especially chlorine.
